If gr hasnt been watered in a long time...is it best to water it twice as long as usual?

If you water your lawn with too much water it will run off. Try to water it a bit at a time several times to allow the water to soak in. The best time to water your gr is in the evening, then it has less chance of evaporating and the gr has all night to soak up as much as it wants.
